Equity in the Outdoors – A Panel Conversation

August 2 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDT

Free
Please join us for a conversation exploring equity in nature-based pursuits at the GC Brunch Hour on Sunday, August 2nd. Our intention with this discussion is to shine a light on factors that white folks might not have previously considered when it comes to diversity and inclusion in outdoor recreation. This could generally be considered a panel discussion, but mainly we just want to hold space for exploring this topic and learning from each other.

  • What have you done or what did you need to do to connect with the wild/nature/the outdoors? Or to help someone else to?
  • What do the terms wild, nature, outdoors mean to you? How are they similar and different?
  • Why are outdoor activities so heavily dominated by white, make, able-bodied, heteronormative, upper/middle class people?
  • What are some historical or cultural barriers to BI&POC access to, or interest in, outdoor recreation?
