Marketing Internship

The Institute for Nature & Leadership seeks a self-starting marketing intern to support the promotion of our newest program, The Reality Trek: Mapping Your Authentic Future. This four day retreat in the New Hampshire wilderness is intended to empower recent college graduates in the exploration of authentic career paths in social and environmental change. The internship will begin as soon as the ideal candidate is found and will run through May 31, 2012.

Responsibilities

The Marketing Intern will have regular responsibilities with weekly deadlines, such as:

  • Determine target geographical area for program promotion
  • Identify target colleges and universities
  • Find contact information for professors and student leaders at target schools
  • Promote via social media networks including Facebook and Twitter
  • Suggest target groups on LinkedIn for reaching ideal audiences
  • Propose topics for blog posts
  • Draft blog posts and other communications
  • Develop voice and personality of Reality Trek program
  • Support the development of a webinar presentation for interested participants
  • Identify like-minded partner organizations
  • Suggest additional marketing channels and activities to reach ideal audiences

This position will be part-time (approximately 5-10 hours per week) and located remotely. Hours worked will be at the convenience of the intern; regular email communication required. Intern will work directly with Tess Barton, Reality Trek program guide and experienced marketing director in the clean energy industry.

This position is ideal for current undergraduate students or recent college graduates who are interested in marketing and passionate about social or environmental change.

As compensation, the Marketing Intern will receive free attendance on the Reality Trek program from June 13-17, 2012 at Appalachian Mountain Club in Alexandria, NH. In addition, the intern will receive coaching from the Reality Trek program guides over the course of the internship.

Qualifications

  • Strong familiarity with social media and digital marketing tools
  • Resourcefulness, particularly with web-based tools and resources
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Sincere interest in authenticity, nature-based learning, or career counseling
  • Passion for social or environmental change
  • Personal drive and initiative
  • Positive attitude
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
